Mahopac’s Santini Drafted By NJ Devils

0

By Chuck Slater

Mahopac’s Steven Santini, who left Kennedy to join the U.S. Hockey developmental team after his sophomore year was an early pick by the New Jersey devils in the National Hockey League draft on Sunday, June 30.

The defenseman with a strong offensive presence was selected in the second round, the 42nd overall pick.  “I’m really excited,” the 18-year-old said. He had dozens of family and friends at his home listening to the draft.  “It’s a relief when your name is called,” he said.

“I guess he impressed people at the NHL combine in early June,” said his father, Stephen Santini Sr., who coached his son at Kennedy and is an off-ice official for the New York Rangers.

The son has a hockey scholarship to Boston College starting in the fall and the father confirmed he is intending to go to college rather than turn professional now.  The Devils will still hold rights to him when he graduates BC.

Pets Alive Announces the 2nd Annual Tail Wagger Dog Walk at the Walkway Over the Hudson!

0

Last year the first ever Pets Alive Tail Wagger Dog Walk was such a success that we decided to expand it this year. On Sunday, September 8, 2013, Pets Alive will be hosting the second annual Tail Wagger Dog Walk at The Walkway Over the Hudson in Highland, NY. The event will take place 10am-3pm and start with a leisurely walk for participants and their dogs over the walkway. The rest of the day will be filled with amusement for the entire family (even the dogs!) As one of the oldest and largest no-kill organizations in the United States and now with three locations (Middletown, NY; Elmsford, NY; and Puerto Rico), proceeds from The Tail Wagger Dog Walk will help Pets Alive continue to rescue, rehabilitate and find forever homes for thousands of companion animals each year.  We would love for you to partner with us on this important day by becoming an event sponsor and/or vendor.

In its first year the Tail Wagger Dog Walk raised over $10,000 and we must top that this year! The walk will be promoted through email, social media, our website and onsite at our two New York facilities—with reach to more than 30,000 of our supporters! If you sign up for sponsorship before July 10th,  you will be recognized as a sponsor in our brochure to be mailed out to the community. Other benefits of sponsorship include your name listed on the event tee-shirt and complementary vendor space.

More information about Pets Alive can be found on our website: petsalive.org and we are in the beginning stages of creating an event website.

Attached is the sponsorship sign-up form outlining the various levels available and the vendor space sign up form. We look forward to your partnership and support for this wonderful event! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you need additional information.
