Recording on Broadway: An Afternoon with Thomas Z. Shepard at the Somers Library
Saturday, September 21, 1:00 – 2:30 pm

The winner of 12 Grammy Awards, Shepard is America’s pre-eminent producer of Broadway cast albums. He’s a gifted composer, pianist, orchestrator and even forensic musicologist, but his legacy is etched in the grooves of hundreds of records.
Shepard brings his unique insider’s view on the history of Broadway in this brand-new lecture program. In this exclusive offering, Shepard will tell the audience about the historic shows he’s worked on and talk about the memorable personalities he’s worked with, including stars such as Julie Andrews, Sarah Brightman, Yul Brynner, Betty Buckley, Barbara Cook, Joel Grey, Danny Kaye, Angela Lansbury, Mandy Patinkin, Bernadette Peters, Anthony Quinn, Debbie Reynolds, Barbra Streisand and more, as well as legendary Broadway creators such as Harold Arlen, Leonard Bernstein, Fred Ebb, Jerry Herman, Sheldon Harnick, John Kander, Richard Rodgers and, of course, Stephen Sondheim.

With Shepard spinning tales and offering musical examples from his collection of immortal recordings, this will be catnip to anyone who loves Broadway! Registration is required; please register on our online calendar at or call 914-232-5717.

Our programs are funded by the Friends of the Somers Library through your donations. Thanks for your support!
