Virtual Program: Teen Tech for Seniors – Texting Culture: Do’s and Don’ts
Saturday, March, 10:30am-11:30am
Texting or Short Message Service ( SMS ) has become a necessity in today’s world. It’s the preferred method of communication for most people today to send out a quick message, a picture or a fun emoji. It’s fast, it’s easy and it’s convenient. But there are some unwritten rules behind texting that we need to master in order to join the text culture.
Join us as we explore texting do’s and don’ts:
Understanding some common text language. (LOL, BRB, BTW, 2moro, 2nite, IDK, b4)
Typing vs voice dictation, pros and cons & how to use voice dictation the right way
Using the voice dictation and voice recording options in a text message
Emojis and what they actually mean. (Beware – Don’t use the wrong emoji, it could mean something totally different!)
There will be a Q&A to answer any questions regarding this topic at the end of the session. Please register on the library’s online events calendar at www.somerslibrary.org or call the library at 914-232-5717. You will receive an email prior to each meeting with a Zoom invitation.
Our programs are funded by The Friends of the Library – thanks for your support!
